Let’s fly and race together! Club HistoryFresno Radio Modelers was founded in 1957 with a control line group with model airplanes in Fresno, California. Two members, Milt Post and Jack Brockman, who were U.S. Control Line champions in 1956. The club flew RC at several locations in the area, including: Woodward Park; Sierra Sky Park; and others. In 1989, the club leased our current location at Guy Field, near the Madera Ranchos. Guy Field includes a 650 foot long, 75 foot wide paved runway (most recently re-surfaced and re-striped in 2024), with a 60x130 foot pit area. In the early 1960s, then recent high school graduate and notable aviator, Burt Rutan, was member of the club. Jack Brockman, in his convertible, drove Bert on several cross-country RC flights in the Central Valley. Over the years, the club has hosted many events, including: The annual Memorial Day Pattern Contest; Scale Masters West Coast; IMAC; and others. |
